小学校の頃本で見つけまして、ノートで書きました。その時 「人通りの少ない道」は一番良い道だと完全に信じました。（ちなみに「変わってしまった」のニュアンスはいい邦訳だけど、最後の3行を英語で読めば違うニュアンスがあります！）
When I was little I found this in a book of quotations and copied it into a notebook. At that time I was completely and utterly sure that "the one less travelled" was the best road.
ポエジーが大好きなので大学でよく勉強しました。その日先生が「フロストが「今ではすっかり変わってしまった」を書く時、ちょっと残念な笑顔で書きましたでしょうって言われました。ちょっとショックでしたw
Then at University I distinctly remember a professor mentioning those last few lines and how you get this image of Frost penning them with a certain enigmatic (or perhaps sad) smile on his face. At first I didn't want to accept it.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:

I took the one less traveled by,

ため息をつきながら、今後何十年も
私は語り続けることだろう。
「森の中で道が二つに分かれていて
今ではすっかり変わってしまったが
わしは人通りの少ない道を選んだのだ。」
「ため息をつきながら」って書いてありますよね。その人通りの少ない道は本当にいいことか、フロストも知りませんでしたね。私も分からないけど、いいことか、悪いことか、結局大変な道だと思います。
And then I read the whole poem. Add just the other two lines of the stanza and bam! It's not necessarily a good road to take, after all (although it is not necessarily bad). Enigmatic, indeed.
So I guess the road less travelled isn't always the best one (definitely a conclusion life will bring one to), although not necessarily a bad road. At this stage, I think the road less travelled is the tough one. I wonder how I'll feel about it all when I'm older?
